W.A. Mozart – Konzert K 314 in D major, I Adaptation for 4 flutes in C (or solo, three flutes in C and an alto flute) To listen; To view the cover; To view and a page of the score. It is not certain, but it seems that Mozart did not work willingly for flute compositions. And, although the Concerto K 314 in D major (Mannheim, 1778) is only a transcription of the Concerto K285 originally written for the oboe in the key of C major and notwithstanding it reflects the style of the Violin Concertos of a few years earlier, the fact remains that it is counted among the most significant concerts ever written for flute. Extremely well-known in its clear and airy melody of the first movement, quiet and pastoral trend the II movement, the III one concludes with a very brilliant and virtuosic time. In this first and unique time transcribed for solo flute quartet, accompanying instruments, bearing in mind the general effect of the concert, you can have fun in simulating the typical sounds of oboes and horns, but even more the versatile sound of the strings with the proud and imperious attitude of the violins, the violas and cellos and the heat or the depth of the double basses. It will also be intriguing for a wind instrument like the flute, to look in its timbre for velvety or leaning sounds, more or less staccato notes, the full sound of orchestral tutti, graceful dialogue with the soloist, etc. Good fun to all of you!
