The flute and the intonation To listen; To view the cover. The text comes from the idea of allowing students to have not only an overview as much complete as possible of technical exercises grouped together in a single book, but supported by a backing track too. Started in the 80’s, it consists of several sections in which almost every exercise is designed to take advantage of an accompaniment of a flute quartet; the original version was engraved on a cassette, then vinyl disc, then again on CD, finally in the MP3 version. The major part of the students can not enjoy accompaniment with polyphonic instruments like organ, piano, harp or guitar. As a result the intonation is little developed also at high levels of instrumental preparation. When this occurs the student is not advantaged than others musicians such as, for instance those who have a musician in their family, or those that have had several opportunities to play in ensemble. The book is divided into chapters: from the long notes you pass to the scales, to arpeggios to continue with the mechanism and chromaticism, with the study of double and triple tonguing, trills and tremolos .. The text ends with the melodic progressions . It is clear the reference to the famous French texts studied by every flutists and this book does not want to devaluate this noble flute-playing. Although some excercizes are inspired by French texts, they have a certain novelty and originality in their approach. If we add that a base of 4 flutists accompany our cold solitary study, we understand how the expert flutist can enjoy it.
